ABOUT ME
I have been working as a teacher since 1998. I gained my Certificate of English Language Teaching to Adults from the University of Cambridge in Istanbul, Turkey and then taught in English as a Second Language in the Czech Republic and Sweden. On moving to Virginia, USA in 2006, I started my M.Ed in Curriculum and Instruction at George Mason University. On completion of my Masters, I taught ESOL at a middle school in Virginia. After moving to the Seattle area in 2014, I trained in both the Wired for Reading and Orton Gillingham methods in order to teach literacy to lower elementary students with reading differences. In 2019, I became an IMSE Comprehensive Certified Orton Gillingham tutor.
I am also mum to two beautiful children - one who is dyslexic and the other hi-cap - so I have experienced the challenges and unique nature of negotiating the school system with children who break the academic mold.

How I Can Help You
I provide lessons for 1st - 5th grade students who are struggling with reading and writing. I use multi-sensory methodology to build one-on-one lessons which are designed for each student's unique learning style and literary needs. I mainly work with students who have had a professional diagnosis of dyslexia and/or have dysgraphia.
Lessons are 45 or 60 minutes depending on a student's attention span.
